“We are seeing more four-inch rain events which are extremely difficult to manage, and so that causes erosion, flooding, standing water in fields. It can really affect a farmer’s ability to get a tractor out in the field, to cut hay,” said Olivia Saunders, a field specialist in fruit and vegetable production in the UNH Cooperative Extension Food & Agriculture Program.

This becomes even more urgent when children are involved, and their families don’t have the basic necessities to ensure their health and well-being. Officers who come in contact with families in need will be able to provide them with immediate assistance 24/7, regardless of business hours. This assistance aims to provide short-term assistance until additional support can be put in place.
