Now about halfway through their respective winter seasons, many athletes and teams throughout the Queen City are starting to make their pushes toward the postseason, while others are continuing to develop young athletes for future success.

It’s Christmas week, and high school teams from around Manchester are already treating local supporters to plenty of pre-holiday action as they head into their winter campaigns. Here’s a glance at some of the action from last week, as well as a look ahead.
The Division-I high school football championship game this Saturday will mark the conclusion of the 2024 high school fall sports season, and while several Manchester teams found success throughout their postseason campaigns, none managed to advance past the semifinals.
With all Manchester’s varsity high school field hockey and soccer teams eliminated from playoff competition, the last week saw one volleyball semifinal featuring a Queen City team before attention turned to the gridiron where Manchester had three teams competing in postseason action for the first time in more than 20 years.
The postseason is now underway among New Hampshire high school varsity soccer and volleyball squads and while five of six of those teams were knocked from their respective tournaments over the last week, three more Queen City teams will join the playoffs in the week ahead.
