During their Tuesday, May 20th meeting, the Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) Committee on Accounts and Administration voted to recommend that a question be put to the voters this fall on whether the Manchester School District (MSD) should be a department of the city government. However, it remains to be seen what exactly that will mean.

The Board of School Committee gathered on Monday, May 19 for a special meeting to discuss budgetary next steps forward on what reductions should be made to bridge the approximately $9.5 million gap between the school district’s proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget bottom line they recommended to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the budget that the Board of Mayor and Aldermen ultimately approved.

The band, which includes two Manchester-natives—vocalist Demetri Papanicolau and guitarist/vocalist Nate Comp—informally started when Papanicolau and Comp found themselves in a jam room together one night in 2006. Comp took out his guitar and started playing Alice in Chains tunes, and Papanicolau joined in with his vocals. The two musicians played until 9 a.m. the next morning.

A solemn ceremony was held Friday at the NH Law Enforcement Memorial site. Hundreds of police officers in dress uniform, New Hampshire’s congressional delegation, and several state officials joined the families of the fallen for the 33rd annual ceremony held at the site.
