Attorney General John M. Formella announces that James Peretti, of Merrimack, the former general manager of The Foundry Restaurant (Foundry) located in Manchester, has been sentenced by the Hillsborough County Superior Court Northern District on two class A felony theft counts.

I recently wrote an opinion piece after the New Hampshire House passed a budget proposal, but before the budget had moved to the Senate. I stated I was a registered Independent and that the Republican state legislature was being controlled by the Free Staters. I spoke about how the House budget impacted the poor and the middle class in NH, and that because the House was controlled by the Free Staters, this budget was a means to their ends…dismantling of government, public education, healthcare, and more in the state of New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Secretary of State David M. Scanlan on Friday co-hosted a naturalization ceremony with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) at the New Hampshire State Archives. After four hours of deliberation, the Hillsborough County Delegation Convention approved a $148,319,029 budget for Fiscal Year 2026. That amount included $1,624,206 for covering the cost of three new collective bargaining agreements with county employees and did not include a $734,781 amount for a potential contract between the county and U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, better known as ICE.

“The City of Manchester should not be the whipping child for lawmakers who need to find ways to balance the state budget. While I recognize that difficult choices need to be made, last minute changes that adversely affect the City need to be reconsidered and allow Mayor Ruais and the Board of School Committee more time to properly plan ahead to avoid drastic increases in property taxes on Manchester residents,” said Stephen. “I urge lawmakers to rethink this proposal and find other ways to put the final pieces of the biennial budget together that benefit Manchester residents and Granite Staters overall.”
