I graduated from Memorial High in 1965. Many of my classmates, facing the draft anyway, enrolled in the Armed Forces. Most of us had never heard of Vietnam, but that December, just when many of my classmates reported to bootcamp, President Johnson committed 195,000 soldiers to Vietnam. In 1969, the year I graduated from college, around 543,400 American men and women were serving there. By April 30, 1975, 2,709,918 Americans had served in uniform there; 58,148 died in the conflict. Another 100,000 were completely or badly disabled.

Title X is the only federal government program providing family planning services to low-income families, the uninsured, and the underinsured. On March 31, 2025, 16 recipients of Title X grants received notice that the Trump Administration was “temporarily withholding”  FY 2025 funding. President Trump’s executive order was effective the following day, which had immediate repercussions for sexual and reproductive health care (SRH) services.

The goal of the Skills Expo was to highlight the critical role of skilled trades in the workforce and connect young workers with the opportunities for careers in high-demand, high-skilled trades.

The group began as a scholarship fund for vocational training. It has evolved into a resource for guiding young people into the trades and promoting hands-on careers

On Monday, April 28, Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais that the city has reached tentative agreements with all ten city unions that had expiring collective bargaining agreements. The current agreements are set to expire at the end of June, the end of the city’s fiscal year, and the new agreements came only after several months of negotiation.

Prior to the concerns put forward by Manchester School District leadership followed by the lengthy discussion by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, the Manchester Board of School Committee’s Committee on Athletics roundly rejected the concept of instituting a “pay-to-play” system for school athletics as a way to make up for school budget shortcomings.
