For Chatila, the tariffs are the last straw; he has put his company and facility up for sale.  His biggest customer stopped buying, and his costs for imported ingredients, electricity, and eggs are rapidly escalating. He received notice from his fuel supplier of tariff surcharges they will impose. The company employed more than 20 people at its peak. Today, they have reduced their staff to just two remaining employees.

The Manchester Urban Ponds Restoration Program has coordinated 120 volunteer cleanups at the city’s urban ponds since 2000. Other groups have coordinated 14 more. The 134 cleanups mean that 1,390 volunteers have spent about 4,327 hours collecting 2,893 bags of trash. This is in addition to larger dumped items like shopping carts (117), tires (464), car batteries, other car parts, construction debris, and more, according to a news release from the program.

I know that not all New Hampshire Republicans want the same things. For some, it’s the pro-business, anti-tax piece of the platform that makes them register as Republicans. For others, it’s a desire for revenge against societal shifts that they don’t like or that make them uncomfortable — for which they use the shorthand “woke.” But in this moment, made unique by the appetite and actions of Donald Trump and his administration, it is impossible for a New Hampshire Republican to pick and choose the way the party does or does not represent their desires.
