“As we heard this morning, as we were talking about what the impact of potential cuts to the AmeriCorps program would be, it’s not going to save money,” said Senator Shaheen. “What it’s going to do is downshift those costs to local communities, and it’s going to actually cost us more. So this is all a foolhardy effort.”

“I’d just like to say that as public educators, our number one commitment is to do what is best for our students. And we achieve that through federal funding. So, largely our federal funding. goes to our most at-risk kids. It is students from low-income families. It is students who are homeless. It is students with social and emotional needs.”

A solemn ceremony was held Friday at the NH Law Enforcement Memorial site. Hundreds of police officers in dress uniform, New Hampshire’s congressional delegation, and several state officials joined the families of the fallen for the 33rd annual ceremony held at the site.
